С того времени я в большей степени сконцентрирован на политической психологии. Я изучаю вопрос, как скорбят нации и этнические группы и что случается, если группа не может горевать, если опустошающая война или другая глубокая утрата делают ее неспособной оправиться от горя. В результате неразрешенные утраты и неспособность горевать становятся частью социального и политического процесса. Надеюсь, что такого рода исследование расширит понимание международных отношений и сыграет свою роль в содействии мирному урегулированию политических конфликтов. Я знаю, что мой интерес к такой работе частично объясняется тем, что я вырос на раздираемом конфликте острове Кипр и что он представляет собой попытку залечить раны этого острова. Это так же несомненно, как и то, что проведенное ранее исследование осложненного горевания решило для меня загадку смерти моего дяди.
